Policy Overview

Yearly Policy Overview

The Recreational Recital Program at The DCU runs from September through June and culminates with our annual show each June. Classes are offered to students ages 3-19, in various disciplines including ballet, jazz, tap, musical theater & hip hop. Classes are leveled based on age and/or level. The DCU holds an annual Holiday Performance for our young dancers every December. This festive holiday showcase is not a recital, therefore not every class we offer will be participating. Combo classes in addition to classes that meet more than one day a week are chosen to perform based on the genre that the majority of the students participate in as well as students' ages. Dancers enrolled in the Recreational Recital Program must take all styles within their class combo to participate in those class recital routines.

  • Scheduling/Attendance/Make Up Classes

    • Class options are provided for you during your online registration. Once enrolled, students will remain in the same class throughout the entire dance season. Dancers should try to avoid missing more than 6 classes in each discipline throughout the dance season. Any schedule changes needed after the start of the season must be requested via the Change Form at the studio desk.

    • Attendance is required for all scheduled classes. If your child is going to be absent for any reason, please notify the studio with a courtesy call or email. If your child is absent, the DCU offers make-up classes September through March. Your child may make up a class with another class at your child's level. A list of appropriate class options will be listed on the DCU Parent Portal a few weeks after the season begins. Make-Up classes are not mandatory but must be redeemed within 30 days of absence.
